Hi there! I'm Kirby!

Welcome to my blog! This is a daily dose of fashionable things from my personal style and good eats to beauty products and things to do!

If You Love it, You Should Probably Buy More.

If You Love it, You Should Probably Buy More.

You know those people you’ve always thought were crazy when they find an item they like and buy multiples in different colors, or even just a back up in the same color? Well, I think I finally understand why. I think in the past the closest I ever came was purchasing an additional pair of jeans in the same cut. Back in early winter I stumbled into Clothes Mentor (one of our local resale boutiques) and I found this 100% cashmere, mock neck sweater by Tina of Scotland brand new with tags on. At the time there were two others same size, exact same cut in different colors, but I opted for just the lilac one because I loved the color so much. After only about two and a half weeks I realized I was wearing this sweater about three times a week, and it had quickly sky rocketed to my favorite thing in the closet. The next chance I had I was back at Clothes Mentor scooping up a 2nd one, thanking my lucky stars that it was still there, and walking away with a replica in a deep plum hue. The remaining color was a bright fuchsia that I didn’t think was quite in my wheelhouse and I’m still kicking myself for not purchasing it and finding a way to make it work because seriously these are my favorite item. As my love of these Tina of Scotland pieces has continued to blossom over the past few months my heartbreak has grown equally as much. Of course these pieces will last a bit, but after exponential use already this winter I’m noticing some wear and can not find ANY information on this brand. Aside from a few links to long sold pieces on eBay there is no history out there on Tina of Scotland, I can’t find a place to buy more, and I can’t even figure out how old these ones are to wonder where they possibly came from.

What’s the point of all this you may ask? I’m telling you this to instill in you that if there is a great basic out there you find yourself falling in love with, it definitely doesn’t hurt to purchase a back up. Chances are if you love it that much, if it’s ruined, wears out or finds itself lost, the pain you’ll feel will be much worse. My friend Brooke, of The Tony Townie, made a great point on her blog post this week about strategically shopping sales, this is a great time to stock up on those pieces that it wouldn’t hurt to have some extra volume of because they’re so heavy in your rotation. You can read her full post here. And I’ll be over here thanking the lovely woman, whoever she may be, for consigning her brand new cashmere sweaters in just my size and starting my greatest fashion love affair to date.
