Our Random Day in Maggie Valley.
Yesterday Andrew and I had the most random and fun Sunday, jam packed with a bunch of activities and quality time together. We started our morning at the Asheville Flea for Ya'll that was set up at the Asheville Outlets, we didn't find any gems for the house so then made our way to the WNC Battle of the Burger, to of course snack on some sliders but also, so Andrew could get some content for work. After casting our votes for the people's choice burger we decided to head off the beaten path and spend our afternoon exploring Maggie Valley, North Carolina.
Located about 35 miles outside of Asheville, Maggie Valley is a small mountain city that I'm sure at one point was a high attraction of family fun, but now gets a little less glitz and traffic. We started our adventure by first driving through Maggie Valley into the Cherokee Indian Reservation to check out Soco Falls. A pair of waterfalls right off Hwy 19, that are a short trek down the hillside. Cool to see if you're in to chasing waterfalls, but not my favorite spot for hanging out for a period of time, definitely a get out of the car, take a look and continue on your way sort of place. Our day then led us to Fantasy Golf for a round of putt putt. For only $5 a round Andrew was able to whoop my butt by getting 6 hole-in-one's during our round! We then headed to the Market Square to mosey in some mountain shops and stop in Jelly Bellie's Candy Shop for some ice cream. Not a bad afternoon if I do say so myself. Andrew and I visited Maggie Valley on a Sunday afternoon so a fair amount of businesses and restaurants were closed, and we were running late in the day so short on time. But we will definitely be heading back to try some local BBQ and hit some of the antique shops around town! I wore this Eva Franco midi skirt from Anthropologie dressed down with a graphic tee and sneakers. For what may seem like a dressy look for a random day of adventuring is actually quite comfortable and effortless, and skirts provide a very lightweight alternative to denim in summer months. This piece is great for dressing up and down, and this is definitely down, so stay tuned for a dressier look in the coming weeks!
