Hi there! I'm Kirby!

Welcome to my blog! This is a daily dose of fashionable things from my personal style and good eats to beauty products and things to do!

So.. I've Been Jade Rolling for a While Now.

So.. I've Been Jade Rolling for a While Now.

You may remember when I received this jade roller from Cosmedix back in February. I dabbled in jade rolling a bit in the Spring, but sort of let it teeter off from my daily routine, mainly from laziness. After recently doing a lot more research (easy to do with them being such a fad the past two years, tons of information) and learning all about the positive impacts jade rolling can have on your skin I felt I should give rolling a full forced try. So, I’ve been jade rolling for a while now and basically all I can tell you is it feels amazing. I feel that whenever there is a new beauty hack that comes our way we all think that after we try it for a bit there’s going to be this major transformation where our skin looks beautiful and we feel amazing, and can’t imagine how we lived prior to these new methods. Well, I sort of thought jade rolling would sky rocket me into the world of beautiful, glowing and acne free skin, and reality it is that’s not quite what is happening, but it’s super soothing to my skin and I feel in some ways it’s definitely helping to hydrate my skin deeper. A lot of blog posts I’ve read and tutorials I’ve watched, rave about how much jade rolling has improved their glow, reduced puffiness, and added elasticity to their skin, I’m not feeling it yet, but am going to continue to stick it out. So even though I’m not going to chat about the revolutionary effects of jade rolling I am going to talk you through my skincare routine, and encourage you to try stone rolling as for nothing else other than a bit of self care.

For a little over a month straight I have been using my jade roller every evening, and a few times a week in the morning as well. The cold stone feels amazing massaging your face first thing in the morning, and what a great way to wake up and treat yourself. For the most effective rolling it’s best to use your roller on clean skin with either a serum or oil. At night I’ve been using the Mon Amie Rose + Collagen Serum it’s a little heavier so I like it for PM as I wake up really feeling hydrated. But for morning use I have been using Sparrow for Everyone Oil, as it’s a little lighter and all natural, so later in my routine when it’s time to apply makeup I don’t feel like I’m glopping too much on my face. Use your roller prior to applying your daily moisturizer as serums do a much better job of sinking into the skin where moisturizers like to stay on the surface. Starting at your neck use your roller in upward strokes, moving from section to section of your face. Make sure to roll only in an upward direction then start again, avoid rolling up and down. You can use the smaller end of your roller for more delicate and hard to reach places like around your lips and eyes. Rolling shouldn’t take you more than five minutes so it’s an easy addition to your skincare routine. For an added boost you can keep your roller in the fridge or freezer to really cool it down and soothe your skin. Once you’ve completed rolling you can then apply your moisturizer. At night I like to use the French Girl Creme Lumier Moisturizer, and in the morning I moisturize with Mario Badescu A.H.A. Ceramide Moisturizer, similarly to the oils I change it up as it’s just nice and lightweight for under makeup and I’m also a fan of Mario Badescu because they’re such an excellent price point. I’m probably one of the laziest people when it comes to my beauty routine, it wasn’t until last year I even did more than two steps, but if you’re looking for more ways to embrace self care, jade rolling is a great addition to your routine and it’s super quick. In my opinion, feels way better and is probably more effect than a face mask.

Would love to hear your thoughts on jade rolling below! If you’ve tried it, are thinking about it or just have questions! Happy rolling!

For those wondering I wanted to add a little snippet about the rest of my skincare routine and the products I’m currently using on the regular. I don’t using a makeup remover so for cleansing I start with my Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm, as it helps to remove makeup and begin the cleansing process. I then follow up with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleansing Lotion as it’s a little stronger with hyaluronic acid which helps keep my breakouts under control. A couple times a week I use the French Girl Facial Polish with a facial brush to exfoliate deeper. After cleansing I do a cotton ball swipe of this new Mario Badescu Witch Hazel and Rose Water Toner I’m trying. And then jump into my serum, jade rolling and moisturizer.
