Small Home Updates.

It's hard to believe Andrew, Divot and I are coming up on our 1 year anniversary of living in Asheville! Seriously, where did the time go?! We've been renting our little two bedroom house since we moved here and while it definitely feels like home, it's of course a constant work in progress. I wanted to share a couple small decor touches we've updated since I last shared our home in this post back in July.

One of the biggest changes was we ended up purchasing new bedding; I wanted something lighter in color to give the room a more airy feel. A couple small touches to our nightstand topped off the room, and weren't very expensive. I purchased the vase on sale from Anthropologie, the succulent for just a few dollars at a local garden shop and updated the lamp by purchasing a new shade, rather than an entire light fixture.

Our kitchen so far doesn't really have a theme, though the couple small decor items we've added are very neutral. I purchased the little succulent pots on Amazon for quite a deal and the glass bottles I've had for a couple of years after scooping them up at Home Goods. One of my favorite little knick knacks is the cactus trinket dish I picked up at local Asheville boutique, Duncan & York.

One of my favorite additions to the house is also the most recent; the large weaving I found on a random trip to Goodwill cost me a hefty $3.50 and I feel is the new star of our living room. We have still put hardly anything else on our walls because they're plaster so once I put things up I want them to be perfect before messing up the walls too much!

And lastly, our guest bedroom; it is still basically empty, no joke there is only our desk in there and my closet overflow as it has doubled has my second closet. I decided to make the overflow from closet part of the decor in there if guests are going to have to see it when visiting so I started creating a hat wall. I feel it's a fun way to display my hats as well as protects them from being smashed in a closet somewhere.

We still have a long way to go but it's fun to see how things change and come together over time. What do you do to update your home from time to time?
