Deck the Halls.

Tis the season ya’ll! As a previously self proclaimed Grinch I find myself getting a little more into the holiday spirit year after year, and just wanted to jump on and share how the Wolfs are decking the halls for 2018. When we lived in California we spent most Christmas’s at my sister’s house so Andrew and I usually opted out of most decorating and just soaked in her decor. And, being long term renters, who have moved quite a bit over the last few years, the thought of lugging boxes of short term decorations from place to place seemed a little unnecessary. So.. in an effort to not spend a fortune prepping our home for the holidays this year I opted for a lot of natural statements with a heavy influence from Scandinavian Pinterest boards. So, here’s a look at how our house is coming together this holiday season.

One decor tradition I’ve kept up the past few years is a subtle centerpiece for our table, always featuring my current favorite Anthropologie holiday candle. This year, the winner is, the Concolor Fir, which comes in the beautiful gold foil vessel that perfectly matches the other brass accents I decorated with, and smells like a holiday dream. The candle is the focal point surrounded by some pine cones and cranberries that can affordably be found at your local craft store. This year displayed on a serving dish I scooped up at Goodwill.

I saw lots of similar ideas to this on Pinterest, and thought what a great way to pull something living for the holidays throughout the house without trying to maintain fresh flowers for a few weeks. I’ve had these old bottles for years from Home Goods and all I had to do was trim off a few sprigs from the backside of our Christmas tree and voila, the perfect accent for our coffee table.

Okay so our mantle was a little bit Pinterest, particularly this one photo from Apartment Therapy, combined with one of my favorite home influencer Cynthia Harper sharing this Magnolia Home garland from Target. The garland has since sold out I believe, but you can find similar ones on Amazon like this one here. I went on a hunt to all the local Goodwill’s to track down a bunch of vintage, brass candlesticks to accumulate these. I’m still hoping to add a few more, maybe for next year, and love the idea of adding a mirror behind them as well, but am definitely liking were it’s headed!

You may remember from my Instagram Home Tour that our living room is quite small, and we have a weird alcove off the side of our dining area that’s just sort of no man’s land. No man’s land, that happens to be the perfect nook to house a Christmas tree. Because we opted to keep the tree outside of the living room I still wanted some extra winter feels in the living room so trimmed our tree to create this minimalistic Christmas tree on the wall under a shelf in our living room. There are so many fun, and unique versions of this on Pinterest and I chose to decorate ours with my favorite little miniature ornaments from Anthropologie currently on sale for under $9.

I always debate if I’m going to be one of those people to have a beautifully, decked out, and cohesive Christmas tree, or if I’m just going to rock all the fun, unique ornaments Andrew and I have accumulated over time. While I’m still debating I thought our little holiday corner looked so lovely in it’s simplicity with just some lights.
